Color Mixing Art Lesson

This is one of my ALL time favorite projects that I have done for the past 20 years with my Kindergarten classes. It is such a fun, easy way to introduce color mixing to young artists. I have used so many different types of materials when making this project and the results are always adorable.

We use many different types of materials to color the cat faces in such as finger paint, watercolor paint, as well as tempera paint sticks.

I made giant cats for the hallway that shows the various color mixtures. These were inspired by the book Color Kittens written by Margaret Wise Brown.

One of my students wears glasses, and so she wanted her cat to match.
